Excuse the mess, I'm under construction.

I work for By The Scfuff and... Well... They keep me busy.

Expression Engine 2.0 (beta) is the most awesome, amazing, poorly documented, annoying and exciting CMS I’ve ever used.

I’m trying to set up a clean url structure like:
site.com/category/sub-category/
Which is effortless in wordpress, however just doesn’t want to work in ee off the bat. I have to resort to mysql queries and logical bits of code like the one below just don’t work.

category="{if "{segment_2}"}{segment_2}{if:else}{segment_1}{/if}"

I miss wordpress.

The first two things that really annoyed me were:

  1. The front washer blades were squeaking.
  2. The lights were too low.

Solution? Dropped by to the local halfords, got the brightest road legal headlights and a fresh set of bosch window wipers.

Both issues solved, much happier now. Next on my to-do list: fit an armrest.

I was always a computer geek and that is why I have the skills to create the web sites that I do and why I enjoy it so much.

That being said, I always had a passion for cars, always secretly dreamed of being a car mechanic. I (not so) recently bought myself a Skoda Fabia 1.4 Classic. I figured this is my chance at fulfilling my secret dream.

The Apple Experience

I own a little MacBook and work on two Mac Pro machines, love every second I spend using the Mac Os and am the exact opposite of what one might call a hater. That being said, let’s cut to the chase.

My MacBook is a 3rd-gen, non-uni body model, it has the common fault of strips of plastic breaking off from the keyboard panel. I have no big issue with this, as long as it works, however after finding out that the parts are being replaced by Apple at no cost, I rushed down to my closest Apple store (the one in Oxford circus).

I definitely had the wow factor, after walking into it, my first impression was: a store done right. What one would expect from Apple. I saw lots of people all around and two queues at the end of the store, so I assumed that someone would be able to help. Read the rest of this entry »

The loudspeaker at London Bridge: “We apologise for the delays, train alterations and short notice delays at London Bridge. All trains in and out of London are currently delayed due to severe weather conditions.”

I was one of the few on the station, that were actually enjoying the bit of snow that we were blessed with today. However even in this happy state I could not resist to share some of the fury that everybody at the station were experiencing against the train service providers.

The train that I got on was only delayed by about half an hour, so I can be considered lucky and please don’t think that I’m complaining. Most of the people on the station though, were ranting about their services being canceled, or about having to wait for over an hour to get a train home. The delays were between 60 and 120 minutes (at least according to the loudspeaker).

How can a service that has been running for so many years, that employs “high level professionals” and that prides itself on the level of comfort which they provide to their customers fail so badly at being prepared for the centimetres of snow? It’s hilarious.

Armed with my little Nokia E71, I took the liberty of taking a few pictures of the view that I had while on the platform.

After the SNOWFALL

So, having seen the “Severe weather conditions”, what do you have to say about the failure?
